Transformative Benefits of Online Counselling
If you’re reading this, maybe you’ve felt it too, that hesitation, the fear that somehow asking for help means admitting you are not coping so well. Perhaps growing up in a family when feelings were ignored or shamed sharing them as an adult feels daunting to say the least. The good news is that online counselling is making that first step so much easier as it will be in a safe, familiar space of your own home.
The freedom to schedule a session that truly fits your life means you’re more likely to keep showing up for yourself. It becomes less about finding time and more about creating it in a way that suits you.
Online therapy allows you to open up at your own pace, in a space you trust. There’s no crowded waiting room, no rush to get out of the office at lunchtime to make your appointment, or the rush to get back. Instead, it’s just you and your therapist, in the privacy of your own home.
In online therapy, the emphasis is truly on what you’re feeling and experiencing. You don’t need to worry about putting on a ‘brave face’ or looking ‘put together’, it’s about being yourself, exactly as you are in that moment.
When you’re ready, online therapy offers a discreet, empowering way to begin your journey free from stigma, judgment, or any need to ‘prove’ yourself. It’s simply a space for you to speak, to be heard, and to heal.
It’s okay if you feel nervous or unsure. Online counselling is there for you without pressure, without judgment. And remember just by considering it, you’re already taking a courageous step forward.
Some advantages of online counselling are:
Home is a safe environment for the majority of counselling clients
The choice to use video or just audio during Zoom consultations
Reduced travel time and therefore reduced cost of traveling
Greater choice of appointment times
Easier access to specialist counselling treatments
A quicker induction.
My experience with clients over the telephone/internet is that they feel less inhibited and open-up more easily.
With online therapy, there is a greater choice in terms of language, culture and location.
When is ‘in Person’ Counselling more appropriate
On occasion I do advise people that face to face counselling would be more suitable.
When home does not feel like a safe space
Spending a lot of time alone and feeling isolated and lonely;
Needing to keep your therapy private.
Feel unsupported by family;
Working online all day – it can be a good idea to get out the house and see your therapist in person.

First Step
I offer a free 15/20 minute conversation by phone.
We can see if you would like to come for an initial consult and if I think I can be of help to you. If not, then I might be able to recommend someone who may be more suitable.
If I can, great and we can proceed but either way that first conversation comes at no cost and with no obligation.
